Senator Padilla’s Historic Legislation Creating Salton Sea Conservancy Signed into Law
Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Senate Bill 583 into law, creating the Salton Sea Conservancy.
This new body will unify efforts to protect public health, restore ecological balance, and involve local stakeholders in addressing the environmental challenges posed by the shrinking Salton Sea.
Supported by a broad coalition of environmental and community organizations, the Conservancy will manage projects aimed at remediation and community engagement. With significant financial backing from state and federal sources, the Conservancy seeks to ensure long-term restoration, focusing on environmental protection, public health, and local economic growth.
